BJP urges Telangana govt to protect temple land

HYDERABAD: BJP's Telangana chief N Ramchander Rao on Wednesday demanded that the Congress govt safeguard temple land from encroachments in the state. He also warned of massive agitation by the BJP to protect temple land parcels if the govt fails to do it.

Addressing the media at the party office, the newly appointed BJP chief said, "It is regrettable that encroachers assaulted the executive officer of Bhadrachalam temple and, in another instance, land parcels of Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) were encroached in Khammam.

When TTD officials attempted to reclaim it, encroachers from other religions obstructed them. In both situations, encroachers are attempting to construct buildings and commercial centres. We will not tolerate this."

"You made numerous commitments, but failed to implement them, citing financial constraints. If that is the case, why did you make these promises? Congress leaders are shifting blame onto the Centre," he claimed.
