BJP to take on TRS post Karnataka success
HYDERABAD: After Karnataka, it's going to be Telangana. With this assertive statement, BJP national general secretary P Muralidhar Rao has made his party's intentions clear of wresting power from the ruling TRS. The larger goal, according to Rao, is to capture the south, which has always been a tough challenge for the saffron party.
Rao said they got a booster dose in Telangana in the form of victories in four Lok Sabha seats. The party would consolidate the gains and be at its aggressive best to counter TRS, he said. Addressing a press conference at the party office here on Tuesday, he said: "After Karnataka, it will be Telangana, and soon we will take lead in all southern states."
Rao said only BJP has the wherewithal to take on TRS, and dismissed Congress as an alternative force. "Just watch out, the who's who of political parties will be joining our party," he said. Attacking the TRS government on the Municipal Act, he said, "To escape the embarrassment of the bill being rejected by governor, the government enacted the drama of an ordinance. It's the governor who issues the ordinance and not the government. We want to know where is the ordinance."
