HYDERABAD: The state legislative assembly will debate on various issues, including Centre's 'bias' against Telangana, during the session to be held on September 12 and 13 apart from approving some bills and taking up short discussions.

The assembly session began on Tuesday after a six-month break. While the opposition parties demanded that the monsoon session be held at least for a week or 10 days to discuss important issues, the government said it was not possible to hold sessions for more number of days in view of Ganesh idol immersion and also state integration day celebrations.

The assembly adopted condolence resolutions on the demise of Thungathurthy former MLA Mallu Swarajyam and Kamalapuram ex-MLA P Janardhan Reddy without taking up any business. Later, in the business advisory council (BAC) meeting, speaker Pocharam Srinivas Reddy decided to hold the session for two days. AIMIM leader Akbaruddin Owaisi and Congress leader Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka said the government was reducing the number of assembly sessions every time.

But, TRS MLAs and ministers Vemula Prashanth Reddy, T Harish Rao, Gangula Kamalakar and chief whip Dasyam Vinaya Bhaskar said though the sessions were being held for a few days, the number of hours had increased.

Since Ganesh idol immersion and Telangana Integration Day celebrations are being held between September 7 and 18, the government would consider holding the sessions for about two weeks during winter session of the assembly, they said. Congress also demanded a discussion on the Centre's bipartisan approach to state.
