BHEL staffer ends life due to ‘harassment’

HYDERABAD: A 33-year-old BHEL woman employee committed

suicide

at her residence in

Miyapur

on Thursday morning. In her suicide note, she expressed apprehension that she was being followed and spied on by some of her colleagues. The victim, Neha K, a native of Bhopal, was a deputy accountant at BHEL. She ended her life when her husband Sunil and in-laws were at home.

When she did not open the bedroom door, they broke it open only to find her hanging from ceiling fan. “She was previously working at BHEL in Bhopal and took transfer three months ago,” said Miyapur inspector Venkatesh Shamala.

According to police, the victim had suspicion that BHEL deputy general manager and six other colleagues were tapping her and her family members’ phones and spying on her. “In suicide note, she revealed that even in Bhopal BHEL office, some senior colleagues were spying on her and following her,” added the inspector. She approached Miyapur police, who inturn directed her to

police station recently. “The cybercrime cops filed a petition on her request and verified whether her phones were being tapped. But they found nothing suspicious,” inspector said.

Police registered a case under Section 306 (abetment of suicide) of the IPC against DGM and six other colleagues and took up the investigation.
