Beautician case gets murkier: Sexual assault being probed

HYDERABAD: With preliminary forensic analysis revealing internal and external injuries on beautician Vijayalakshmi alias Sirisha's body, Banjara Hills police have sent her vaginal swabs and viscera to the forensic lab. Police are awaiting the autopsy report to proceed further in the suspicious death of the 29-year-old beautician. The case is entangled with the suicide of Kuknoorpally sub-inspector D Prabhakar Reddy and role of two others.

(OGH) forensic experts, who conducted the post-mortem on Sirisha's body , have given a short opinion to the investigating officer saying there were internal injuries on her lips, back of the head, scratch marks on right side of her chin and left bottom part of her back. The victim's left eye also slightly turned black, a police source said.

The doctors also collected vaginal swabs of the victim and sent them for forensic analysis to the FSL to find out if there was a sexual assault. The victim's undergarments would also be sent for analysis.

Apart from Rajiv and SI Prabhakar Reddy , the other person involved in the crime has been identified as Sravan, a native of Mall village near Devarakonda in Nalgonda district. in Banjara Hills a year ago and soon became her friend.

Sravan knew Prabhakar Reddy, who shot himself with his service revolver on Wednesday when the cop was posted as a probationary SI at Devarakonda, for the past four years. “Sravan used to boast to Rajiv and Sirisha that he was the one who got Prabhakar Reddy a posting at the Kuknoorpally PS using political links,“ an investigating official said.

Like Sirisha, SI Reddy was also married and has a child.His wife was away at her parent's place when Sirisha, Rajiv and Sravan met him at his residential quarters on Mon day night.

While Rajiv and Sravan alleged that Sirisha became extremely agitated after the SI attempted to sexually assault her and later ended her life after returning to the city , police have not yet confirmed it. “We cannot confirm about the cause of death until the post-mortem report comes out,“ Banjara Hills inspector K Srinivas said.

Police, however, have enough evidence that Rajiv, Sravan and Sirisha went to Kuknoorpally and the beautician's death took place in her office at Sheikpet immediately after she returned to the city .

On Thursday , Banjara Hills police team along with OGH forensic experts conducted a scene reconstruction at Sheikpet apartment, where Sirisha was found dead, with Rajiv and Sravan. “The latch of the room door where Sirisha was supposedly found hanging was broken. Rajiv said he broke the latch and cut the noose to bring the body down,“ police said.

After pulling the body down, Rajiv called Sravan, who was heading towards his house at LB Nagar in a cab. Sravan returned to the flat and they called an ambulance of a nearby corporate hospital. “ After paramedics confirmed that Sirisha was dead, they called the police control room at 4.15 am,“ the inspector added.
