Hyderabad: Union minister of state for home affairs Bandi Sanjay on Monday called on the Hindu community to remain vigilant and urged unity beyond politics against what he described as ‘anti-Hindu' policies. Saying he was speaking ‘as a Hindu' despite holding ministerial office, he alleged that several temples were damaged during the Congress govt's tenure and criticised police action against BJP protests.
Sanjay inaugurated training classes under the Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay training campaign at Kamareddy district centre, visited the BJP district office and later travelled to Banswada to meet families affected by recent incidents. After interacting with them, he addressed the media and mounted a sharp attack on the Congress govt and AICC leader Rahul Gandhi.
He asked Rahul Gandhi to visit Banjara Hills Peddamma temple and Secunderabad's Mutyalamma temple in connection with alleged attacks on Hindu temples. On the Banswada issue, he demanded that Gandhi meet families of those arrested, alleging "unjust and illegal" detentions.
Sanjay also questioned Gandhi's Hyderabad visit and accused the state govt of appeasing AIMIM, claiming this had triggered public anger and led to the postponement of GHMC elections.
