Bandaru Dattatreya faces ire of Justice Eswaraiah
HYDERABAD: BJP MP and former union minister Bandaru Dattatreya had to face the ire of former chairman of National BC Commission Justice V Eswaraiah. Dattatreya had praised the BJP regime for according constitutional status to BC commission.
Justice Eswaraiah said, “It was Congress-led UPA that appointed me as chairman of National BC Commission. Despite few leaders asking me to include Jats in BC list, I refused because that would do injustice to BCs.

It was because of my decision, Jats turned against Congress and voted for BJP in 2014 elections.”
He added, “A five-member committee recommended and the central government approved in 1993 that only those who held constitutional posts like Governor, minister, direct IAS etc., among BCs will be treated as creamy layer and would be ineligible for BC reservations. All others can avail BC reservations. But this order is misinterpreted. What’s worse is that when HCs of Madras and Delhi have pronounced judgments condemning the attitude of officials and their misinterpretation of the 1993 central directive, central government is preferring an appeal in the Supreme Court against such just orders,” the judge said.
Dattatreya admitted this was a problem. He said, “We are aware that existing 27% reservations for BCs in central services is not being implemented properly.”
