HYDERABAD: Vijayakumari, wife of the late G M C Balayogi, has agreed to contest from the Amalapuram Lok Sabha constituency for which the by-election scheduled for May 31.

HYDERABAD: Vijayakumari, wife of the late G M C Balayogi, has agreed to contest from the Amalapuram Lok Sabha constituency for which the by-election scheduled for May 31.
Suryakantham, sister of Balayogi, kicked up a controversy by staking claim for vacant seat.
She also met chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu and requested him to nominate her for Amalapuram.

But the district party leaders insisted that Vijayakumari should contest the elections.

Vijayakumari met Naidu on Saturday and Sunday and agreed to contest the elections.
N Shivaprasad, official spokesman of the party in a press release said that Naidu asked Vijayakumari to contest the elections keeping in mind the wishes of the local people and the services rendered by Balayogi to his constituency.
