HYDERABAD: With a view to take Glaucoma Awareness Week from March 8-14 among people, LV Prasad Eye Institute has planed a series of activities in collaboration with ophthalmologists, pharmaceutical industry and some members of the Telugu film industry.
The theme of the event is “BIG - Beat Invisible Glaucoma”. The eye disease is said to be the leading cause of irreversible blindness in India with an estimated 40 million Indians either affected or being at risk of getting the disease, say experts.
“Presently, every 8th individual in India has glaucoma,” said Dr Sirisha Senthil, head of Glaucoma Service at LVPEI.
