hyderabad: after the chief minister and the municipal commissioner, it is now the turn of the corporators to implement innovative ideas, but at their own cost. on the lines of programmes like ‘dial your cm’ and ‘hyderabad administration - face to face’, a new programme with some innovation is in the offing. corporator md muzaffar ali khan will start his own ‘dial your corporator’ in the azampura municipal division from next sunday (april 21) onwards in which the residents can speak out their problems related to basic amenities in their localities.
“the local residents will get an opportunity to speak about personal and general problems in their localities through this programme, muzaffar told the times of india. according to him, almost all divisions in the city have a population of nearly one lakh people with each household or the resident of a lane having a specific problem. he said most of the people face difficulties in getting their problems solved by approaching the concerned authorities either due to ignorance or lack of time. with a programme like ‘dial your corporator’, the residents can directly contact him if they want lifting of garbage or if they need a street-light in their lanes. the programme, muzaffar said, will be telecast live through local cable network for half-an-hour from 11.30 am on every sunday. the callers will also be given a complaint number for future reference. besides recording the entire programme, the received complaints will be fed into a computer. subsequently, the complaints will be referred to the concerned departments on the next day, besides the corporator himself touring the localities. the programme is expected to cost around rs 2 lakh including the cost of a camera, amplifiers and other gadgets. “a three-member staff including a retired mch official will be appointed to take down the complaints and to assist me in pursuing the complaints, muzaffar said. the local cable operators, whose network covers almost 90 per cent of the azampura division have agreed to telecast the programme regularly, he said. in addition, the programme will be publicised in the division through pamphlets, banners and other mediums. “if i am able to solve at least half of the problems that are addressed to me through this programme, i will consider that to be a success, muzaffar said.
