Actress' brother among 6 detained in Hyderabad drug bust
HYDERABAD: A small-time actor and brother of a popular Bollywood actress, Aman Preet Singh, was detained along with five others by Telangana Police on Monday for alleged consumption of cocaine. Five drug peddlers, including two Nigerians, were also arrested during a joint operation by the Telangana Anti-Narcotics Bureau and Cyberabad police.
Cops seized 199 grams of cocaine, two passports, two bikes and 10 mobile phones from their possession.
According to police, all those detained, including Aman Preet, tested positive for cocaine. The arrested peddlers named seven other consumers, who are yet to be traced. All 13 have been booked for violation of NDPS Act and would be treated as consumers, police said.
Incidentally, in 2021 and 2022, the actress, too, had come under the ED radar on suspicion of being linked to a drug case. Police, however, clarified she has no role in the latest incident involving her brother.
A man Preet and the others, who were picked up from different parts of the city, bought drug from peddlers’ gang,” said a cop. The peddlers were picked from an apartment in Hydershakote. The 13 are Aman, Kishan Rathi, Aniketh, Yashwanth, Rohith, Sri Charan, Prasad, Hemanth, Nikhil, Madhu, Raghu, Krishnam Raju and Venkat. Police suspect kingpins, Divine Ebuka Suzee alias Lebuka and Ezeonyili Franklin Uchenna alias Kaleshi, escaped to Nigeria. Cops offered a ₹ 2 lakh reward for information on them.
Among arrested are Nigerians Blessing and Adeshola and Indians Allam Venkata Gowtham, Sanaboina Varun Kumar (driver) and Mohammed Mahaboob Shareef (choreographer). “The two kingpins run a large drug syndicate. Main associate Blessing is sent to Delhi to transport drugs to Hyderabad and other cities. She travels by flight. In Hyderabad, her associates supply drugs to consumers,’’ said DCP Ch Srinivas.
