HYDERABAD: The induction of Babu Mohan as minister for labour by chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu into the cabinet has caused ripples in a section of the Telugu Desam Party.
According to senior party leaders, the cabinet expansion on Wednesday was primarily undertaken to fill the vacancies from the Telangana region. The leaders argue that though Babu Mohan represents Andole in Medak district, he originally hails from Amalapuram in East Godavari district.
The leaders argue that the induction of Babu Mohan had once again stirred the issue of ‘injustice’ to Telangana region.

They maintain that senior leader from Adilabad Boda Janardhan would have been an ideal choice as Babu Mohan is a first-time legislator.
It may be recalled that the party was criticised by opposition on selective dismissal of ministers from the Telangana region with the removal of P Srinivas Reddy and S Devaiah, while ministers from Andhra and Rayalaseema region facing various charges were left untouched. Meanwhile, Naidu instructed all ministers to visit party offices in their respective districts in the last week every month to redress the grievances of the party cadre. The district party president and constituency in-charges and legislators have been asked tour constituencies twice in a week.
The district presidents, the in-charge ministers and district ministers have also been asked to review the party performance once in every three months and submit a report to the high command. The district party presidents have also been asked to visit their respective party offices compulsorily on every Monday.
