Devadas Kanakala

, who taught acting to several actors in the Telugu film industry, passed away on Friday. The 74-year-old

actor

was unwell and breathed his last at a hospital in the city.


His son Rajeev Kanakala is a well-known Tollywood actor and his daughter-in-law Suman is an anchor and television personality. Devadas Kanakala’s last rites would be performed in the city on Saturday.

Kanakala acted in several films including the Mahesh Babu-starrer ‘Bharat Ane Nenu’ released in April last year. His other films include ‘O Seetha Katha’ released in 1974, ‘Siri Siri Muvva’ (1978) and ‘Gorintaku’ (1979). ‘Enthiran’, ‘King’, ‘Malleeshwari’, ‘Manasantha Nuvve’ and ‘Gang leader’ are among his other films. Among the several stars who benefitted from Kanakala’s acting classes are superstars Chiranjeevi and Rajinikanth. Kanakala also directed a few films.

Chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao condoled the actor’s demise. “Devadas’ death, who has trained several actors, has left a void in the film industry that cannot be filled,”the Chief Minister said.
