Accused in honour killing case gets bail
Hyderabad: Justice K Lalitha of Telangana high court granted bail to Donthireddy Archana Reddy, an accused in a honour killing case.
Her daughter Avanthi Reddy married a friend Hemanth, a Vysya youth, without the consent of her parents. Following the brutal murder of Hemanth, police booked criminal cases against Avanthi’s mother Archana and others. They were arrested and sent to jail.
Earlier, the courts had rejected bail to her.

Releasing her on bail at that stage may prove to be inimical to the case of the prosecution. Now that the chargesheet was filed and Avanthi’s statement too was recorded, further pre-trial incarceration may not be advisable, the judge said while granting conditional bail to Archana.
