HYDERABAD: The Banjara Hills police on Friday traced and arrested a college administrator who was involved in a death causing hit-and-run accident earlier this month.
Neelam Niranjan Reddy, 33, an administrator with the Sarojini Naidu Women''s College apparently injured a man in a road accident at midnight on February 8 at Road no. 2 in Banjara Hills.
Niranjan fled from the accident spot without informing the police or calling an ambulance. Due to the delay in the arrival of medical aid, the injured person, K Narsing Rao, died.
According to the Banjara Hills police, Niranjan Reddy drove his car in a rash and negligent manner and took a sharp turn without switching on the indicators. Losing control of the vehicle, Niranjan rammed the car into Narsing who was riding a scooter.
Narsing Rao, 22, who worked with a pizza-chain store in Banjara Hills, was thrown off his vehicle and fell headfirst. Succumbing to the injuries, Narsing Rao died on the same night. The police traced Niranjan Reddy after re-assembling broken pieces of the registration number plate of the car found at the accident scene.
On Friday, the Banjara Hills police arrested Niranjan Reddy. Apart from the case against Niranjan for causing death to a person in a road accident, the Banjara Hills police would register cases under valid sections for not having informed the police or called for medical help, a press release said.
