According to sources, Bhoopathi Babu conveyed his displeasure to DGP V Dinesh Reddy on Wednesday. Srinivasa Reddy headed the Special Investigating Team (SIT) that was specially formed to monitor the raids against retail liquor outlets indulging in various irregularities including charging much over the Maximum Retail Price (MRP) as well as selling non-duty paid liquor, both of which was leading to a huge loss of revenue for the state exchequer.
There are allegations that Srinivasa Reddy was transferred to placate PCC president Botsa Satyanarayana who is said to be charging that the ACB raids have been aimed at ousting him from the cabinet. However, in response to Bhoopathi Babu’s plea, he was told that the course of investigation should not be affected by the transfer of one officer and that as the chief of ACB, he should not insist on having an officer of his choice in his team, and instead, work as a team to carry out the responsibilities given to him.
