Hyderabad: Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) sleuths on Tuesday arrested roads and buildings (R&B) department engineer-in-chief (ENC) after unearthing over Rs 50 crore worth of disproportionate assets (DA) allegedly belonging to him.
ACB teams launched simultaneous searches at 17 places, including the house and the offices of ENC Mohan Naik Jarupula, 58, places of his relatives, associates and benamis in Hyderabad and Nizamabad on Tuesday morning.
During the searches, ACB teams unearthed several assets, including five agricultural land parcels with a total area of 19.38 acres in Mullangi village of Dichpally mandal in Nizamabad, three flats in Kompally, four flats built on a 500-square-yard commercial property in Gachibowli, a triplex villa at Miyapur, a newly constructed independent house at Kukatpally, an advance of Rs 1 crore paid towards the purchase of a newly constructed villa at Nizamabad, Rs 55 lakh cash, Rs 1.44 crore bank balance, 2.5 kilos of gold ornaments, six kilos of silver articles, Rs 1.26 crore worth of household articles, nine cell phones, four laptops worth Rs 11.25 lakh, two cars worth Rs 25 lakh.
“The documentary value of the disproportionate assets is estimated to be about Rs 17.94 crore. The market value of the assets will be well above Rs 50 crore since the villa in Miyapur and Gachibowli commercial property together currently value about Rs 25-30 crore,” an ACB official said.
The accused was arrested under Section 13(1)(b) r/w 13(2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act. He would be produced before the Principal Special Judge for SPE and ACB cases at Hyderabad for judicial remand on Wednesday.
