HYDERABAD: Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) sleuths apprehended three prohibition and excise department officials in Karimnagar after an unaccounted Rs 3.62 lakh in cash was found in the car they were using.
Acting on a tipoff, ACB sleuths intercepted the vehicle outside the ZP Office on Wednesday evening. Inside were K Siva Prasad (53), inspector of police along with Ch Balanarasimha (37), sub-inspector.
The two are members of the prohibition and excise department’s state-level Special Task Force. The third member in the vehicle was M Yadagiri (57), excise inspector. The bag containing the cash was seized from the possession of the driver, M Ramesh. “During interrogation, the driver revealed that the amount was the bribe Siva Prasad and Balanarasimha had collected from wine shops, bar and restaurants and excise officials of Karimnagar district,” ACB said in an official release.
ACB officials have registered a case on the basis of the evidence .
