HYDERABAD: A Class II student died after she was knocked down by a speeding van near Nidanoor village of Ranga Reddy district on Sunday. J Swathi (9), daughter of Yadaiah and a resident of Karmanghat, was going to her relative's house at Kandukoor village along with her uncle Krishna on a scooter when the accident took place.
Krishna parked his scooter on the roadside when a speeding van proceeding towards Kandukoor hit the scooter.

Swathi who was sitting on the scooter suffered grievous head injuries and died on the spot.
She was a student of the Alpha Model School in Karmanghat. In another incident, a farmer died after the scooter on which he was travelling along with his relative was hit by a lorry at N K Pally in Moinabad on Saturday.
B Srinivas (27) of Nagireddypally was coming to the city when the lorry hit them. Srinivas's brother-in-law G Narasimha escaped with minor injuries.
In yet another incident, a car driver died after the motorcycle he was riding collided with an APSRTC bus at Puranapul on Saturday.
Police said Shaik Baber (58), a resident of Chirag Ali Lane, was going on some work when the accident took place. A 20-year-old man died after the motorcycle he was riding hit an electric pole at Shahlibanda on Sunday.
Syed Zaheer Ahmed, a private employee and resident of Sultan Shahi, was also returning home when the accident happened, police said.
