HYDERABAD: Eighty engineering and 19 medical graduates will complete training as Indian Police Service (IPS) officers on Saturday. Incidentally, every second IPS officer, who is undergoing training at the Sardar Vallabbhai Patel National Police Academy (NPA) at Shivarampalli, is an engineering graduate.
National security advisor Ajit K Doval will be the chief guest at the Dikshant Parade 2014 to be held at the NPA on Saturday.
According to NPA director Aruna Bahuguna, 141 IPS officer trainees and 15 foreign officer trainees from Maldives, Nepal and Royal Bhutan would take part in the parade.
Addressing the media at NPA on Thursday, she said, "We taught them wide range of aspects including, law, investigation, forensic science, maintenance of law and order and also gave field exposure, including jungle combat."
Talking to media, best all-round IPS probationer, who won the Prime Minister's baton and Home Ministry's revolver along with Mehta cup for studies, Parthrajsinh N Gohil of Gujarat cadre said, "This award- winning performance will boost my confidence".
Best lady officer trainee, Bhavana Gupta of West Bengal cadre, said that parental support was important for women to join the police service.
Officer trainee Lt. Yeshi Choden of Bhutan said the training at SVPNPA gave her a lot of courage and taught her several aspects of policing.
Among the 156 officer trainees passing out on October 31 from the academy, three trainees each were allotted to Telangana and Andhra Pradesh cadre. Both the states got a lady officer trainee each.
Among the six officers allotted to the two Telugu-speaking states, K Apoorva Rao hails from Telangana and she was allotted to the parent state cadre.
