HYDERABAD: At least eight workers were injured after a portion of slab of a flyover collapsed at Bairamalguda in LB Nagar area of Hyderabad on Wednesday.

According to police, four of them are said to be in critical condition.



Officials said that the incident happened during the wee hours when the workers from Uttar Pradesh were involved in concrete works near the ramp of the flyover when the slab they were standing on collapsed.

The flyover connecting Sagar Ring Road to LB Junction is a part of the government's Strategic Road Development Plan (SDRP) which is being undertaken by the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC).

All the injured workers were taken to KIMS hospital where they are receiving treatment for their injuries.

Cops said that they are yet to ascertain the cause behind the mishap but acknowledged that the contractor did not follow safety measures and a case has been registered under section 337 of IPC.
