Hyderabad: Telangana's transition to the VAHAN vehicle services portal has shown major progress, with the transport department reporting strong registration numbers and improved system performance as of April 30, 2026.
Officials said 86,295 temporary registrations have been issued statewide through the portal, while 68,852 vehicles have received permanent registration numbers. The department said the fancy number module has been successfully implemented, with 2,796 online reservations and auctions completed so far, ensuring transparent allotment of preferred numbers.
Authorities also said approval rates and processing speed have improved in recent days, indicating that the system is stabilising quickly after phased implementation.
Pending applications under verification and inspection have been reduced significantly, with backlog now brought down to fewer than 25 applications per login. Officials added that technical support from NIC is continuing, while more modules will be introduced in phases to strengthen digital vehicle services across Telangana.tnn
