On March 16, at 8pm a steel trader, Jog Singh, gave 50 lakh cash to his employee, Mitta Lal, with instructions to deliver the bag at the businessman’s residence. When Mitta Lal was carrying the cash bag on a two-wheeler, some unknown persons came on motorcycle and forcibly robbed the cash bag before they sped away.
Police analysed different CCTV footage and mobile phone tower locations. Police zeroed down on a few persons, against whom there were previous cases. Special teams were formed by Hyderabad police top brass.
The accused had travelled to Bangalore,
Rajasthan and a few other places, to avoid getting caught by the police.
Finally, Vicky Raja Purohit, Mitesh Choudhary and Manoj Panwar, residents of Begum Bazar but natives of Rajasthan as well as Vishnu Gopal Vyas and Tikam Chand residents of Rajasthan, were arrested. The prime accused Khim Raj Purohit is at large.
“The accused confessed that after robbing the cash bag, they handed it to Mitesh in Hyderabad after taking some cash. The kept the cash with Mitesh with an agreement that it would be taken from him later to distribute among themselves. They moved to different cities to avoid getting caught by police,” police said.
Hyderabad police commissioner CV Anand said that special teams were formed and sent to different states and finally police nabbed the accused and seized 28.20 lakh cash.
The arrested accused in their confession said that it was Khim Raj Purohit, who ordered them to rob Mitta Lal. “Khim Raj Purohit and Jog Singh both knew each other as they hail from Rajasthan. While the victim Jog is into steel trade, Purohit is in the transport business. The accused Purohit was unhappy that his business was not doing well. As he was aware that Jog Singh was doing well and handled a lot of cash, he hatched a plan to rob Jog’s employee, while he was on the move,” police said.
