HYDERABAD: Police arrested 12 people and booked employees of five pharmaceutical companies, involved in manufacturing of heavy drugs, on Monday for dumping chemical waste in Yadadri, Rachakonda.

of Teryala village in Gundala mandal was the key person who was facilitating various companies in disposing their chemical waste in open spaces.

of Vijetha Labs, Rajeshwar Reddy of Viroopakshha Laboratories, Jeedimetla, K Satyanarayana of KMTK Laboratories, Ch Ramakrishana of Yag-Mag Labs, Ch Chandra Sekhar of Amrutha Chemincla, B Ramesh of Golden Streak Labouratory, D Murali Krishna of Salubrious Labouratries, Prabhakar Reddy of Suryakala Laboratories.

From these companies, Narsi Reddy and his associates would collect chemical waste in drums and dump them in open fields. Actually, they were involved in eight cases for dumping the waste.

"In every bulk drug company, there has to be an effluent treatment plant (ETP) for disposing of their waste. But some companies, which do not have it as it is expensive, contact people like Narsi Reddy to dispose the waste,'' deputy commissioner of police (Bhongir) E

The accused were identified based on a CCTV footage. Their vehicular movement was identified.
