HYDERABAD: The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has initiated the process of panel preparation for selection of the Telangana director-general of police (DGP) by seeking annual confidential reports (ACRs) of five senior IPS officers of the state.
In a letter sent to the Telangana chief secretary on September 11, Mrityunjay Jha, under secretary of UPSC, has sought ACRs of senior IPS officers of the director-general of police (DGP) rank Aruna Bahuguna (1979 batch), K Durga Prasad (1981), AK Khan (1981) and Anurag Sharma (1982).

In the letter tagged as ‘Most Immediate’, the UPSC asked the chief secretary to furnish ACRs of the four officers. However, it sought only a certain ‘clarification’ about Tejdeep Kaur Menon (1983). Sources confirmed that the Telangana government had furnished the ACRs and clarification to the UPSC a few days ago.
Aruna Bahuguna is currently the director of SVP National Police Academy, while Durga Prasad, the special director general, CRPF, AK Khan director-general of ACB, Anurag Sharma, the in-charge DGP and Tejdeep Kaur Menon, DG of Special Protection Force (SPF).
After going through the ACRs and other details sent by the state government, the UPSC might send the names of the shortlisted officers to the state. The government would then appoint one officer from the list sent by the UPSC as the head of the police force (HoPF).
