HYDERABAD: Three of a family died after a rain-soaked partition wall inside the house collapsed on Wednesday night in Suryapet district.
The bodies of Srinu (35), his father Sheelam Ramaiah (95) and mother Sheelam Ramamma (75) were found under the rubble, Nagaram police said.
Srinu, a tractor driver, lived nearby with his wife and children. On Wednesday, he had come to visit his parents' house located close to their farm land and decided to stay overnight, police said.
The bodies were discovered on Thursday by a meter reader from the electricity department who had come to the house to check the reading. The meter reader had initially called them on the mobile.
But as no one responded, he entered the house and found them dead.
"It was a partition wall inside the house which had collapsed. As a result no one outside got a sense of the accident which had taken place inside the house. We suspect that the wall had become weak after getting soaked in recent rains," a local cop told TOI.
A criminal case was registered by police under CrPC section 174 (suspicious death).
