26-yr-old dies in hospital, kin claim ‘medical negligence’
Hyderabad: The Dundigal police booked a case against the management of a private hospital in Bahadurpally for alleged medical negligence following the death of a 26-year-old man. The case was registered under IPC Section 304 A (BNS 106), which pertains to causing death by negligence.Kurra Paramesh, a native of Erakaram village in Suryapet who was residing in Hayathnagar, was taken to SV Super Speciality Hospitalin Bahadurpally with a leg injury. According to his family members, he was treated for two days, after which the hospital staff informed that Paramesh had recovered and would be discharged the next day.However, when he was not discharged even after four days, the family approached the doctors, who then informed them that Paramesh was operated upon for a blood clot in his head as his condition turned critical.Following this, the family members rushed Paramesh to Gandhi Hospital, where the doctors declared him dead.Alleging negligence by doctors at the SV Super Speciality Hospital, the family approached the police and lodged a complaint.A senior officer from the Dundigal PS told TOI, "While the case has been registered under medical negligence, the hospital administration claims that they treated the patient properly. We are investigating the matter further."Meanwhile, a duty manager from SV Super Speciality Hospital said, "Doctors say they did their best while treating the patient. During treatment for the leg injury, the patient lost around 3 to 3.5 litres of blood, which led to a drop in blood pressure. It further caused paralysis and a blood clot, necessitating surgery."
