HYDERABAD: Irrigation minister N Uttam Kumar Reddy on Saturday said 25 MLAs of the BRS expressed their intention to join the Congress soon, emphasising that the people of Telangana are eager to deliver another blow to BRS in Lok Sabha elections.

“The people of Telangana have already punished the BRS by reducing its assembly seats to 39 from the 104 it held before the Nov 30 assembly polls. Now, out of these 39 seats, nearly 25 legislators are ready to align with the Congress,” he said. Accompanied by ministers Krishna Rao and P Prabhakar, Uttam accused KCR of bearing responsibility for Telangana’s current drought conditions.

He criticised KCR’s attempts to shift blame onto the Congress for mistakes in Kaleshwaram. “Such tactics won’t deceive the public anymore. They have seen through his ploys and rejected his arrogance in the polls. Even BRS MLAs are now distancing themselves from KCR and the party,” he said. Uttam also accused KCR of inciting farmers by misleading them and attributed Telangana’s drought conditions to KCR’s association with Andhra P chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy.

“The then chief minister KCR allowed AP to extract more water from the Krishna river, depriving Telangana of its rightful share,” Uttam said. Furthermore, Uttam condemned KCR’s language. “KCR’s remarks against Congress leaders are disgraceful and it reveal his desperation to save the BRS,” he added.
