Hyderabad: Chief minister A Revanth Reddy on Saturday said
Telangana is importing even coriander from neighboring states to meet the full demand, as the farmers in the state were cultivating only paddy, maize, cotton and chilli.
“Vegetable prices have skyrocketed during the Modi govt’s tenure. The farmers should adopt crop diversification and also cultivate every type of fruit in our region. The govt will set up a sauce factory for the tomatoes grown in the Kandukur area,” CM Revanth said at a public meeting, after laying foundation stone for construction and development of an international-level intergrated fruit, flowers, vegetables and non-vegetarian market at Koheda.
Farmers in Ranga Reddy district used to work hard to supply fruits, vegetables, and milk to the people of Hyderabad. However, with the rise of real estate, agriculture has now declined in this area, Revanth said.
“A population of 1.3 crore resides within the CURE area. Hyderabad has transformed into an international city. We are currently unable to fully meet the vegetable and other horticulture needs of the city’s residents. As per the promise made by me in the past, an international-level market will come up here, with facilities for vegetables in six months, and a full-fledged market in 240 acres with over ₹2,400 crore in two years,” the CM said.
The idea is that the market would be accessible to everyone and from all districts. He hoped that the Koheda fruit market would bring recognition to Telangana, much like the international airport.
Stating that the BRS is trying to obstruct the construction of not only the fruit market but also every development project such as Bharat Future City, Regional Ring Road, airports at Warangal and Adilabad, Palamuru-Rangareddy Lift Irrigation Scheme, a barrage at Tummidihatti, the CM said the govt will go ahead and execute all these projects to make Telangana a model state in the country.
“The previous BRS govt caused severe destruction to Telangana during its 10-year rule. On the other hand, the BJP govt at the Centre is discriminating against Telangana. Despite financial constraints, the Congress govt is trying to put the state back on the path of progress. I am ready to fight against PM Modi or KCR, but the BRS leaders should direct their hatred against me and not the people of Telangana by opposing projects,” Revanth said.
‘I will maintain cordial ties with Centre’The CM also slammed the BJP leaders, particularly MP D Arvind, Union ministers G Kishan Reddy and Bandi Sanjay for failing to convince the Modi-led govt at the Centre to release funds and approve projects related to Telangana. “My reply to BJP leaders’ reckless statements is that, if Rahul Gandhi becomes the Prime Minister, I will ensure that the Centre procures every grain of paddy, approves metro rail expansion, gives national status to PRLIS, financial approval to Musi rejuvenation, funds to airports at Adilabad and Warangal,” Revanth said.
Stating that he is ready to fight and declare war against PM Modi until the Centre approves pending projects, Revanth hastened to add that his first priority is to maintain cordial relations with the Centre to get approvals and funding and not get intimidated by BJP leaders’ allegations.
‘60% registration revenue from RR dist’Sixty percent of the registration revenue comes from Ranga Reddy district alone, and these funds are used to implement welfare schemes across the state. “The total revenue from registration in the state is around ₹15,000 crore per annum but sub-registrar offices do not have proper buildings, chairs to sit, coffee to offer and drinking water facilities. So, the govt has decided to create 12 clusters of the total 39 registration offices within ORR and construct integrated registrar office buildings with air conditioning and all facilities for the people,” Revanth said.
