HYDERABAD: In a fresh seizure of ganja at the Secunderabad railway station, the Government Railway Police (GRP) on Monday arrested a carrier on his way to Mumbai with 22kg of the contraband from a general compartment of Konark Express. The seized ganja is worth Rs 4.4 lakh.
The accused, Abhijit Bhoi, a labourer from Hadapada village in Khorda in Odisha aged only 20, told the cops that he had boarded the train on November 7 at Balugaon for Mumbai.
The GRP caught Bhoi during surprise checks ordered by additional director general (ADG) of police (Railways) Sandeep Sandilya. The cops found the drugs in three bags with Bhoi.
A case was registered under Section 20 (b) (ii) (c) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act against Bhoi. He was produced before the court and remanded in judicial custody.
