"In the guise of purchasing saris, the duo made Ravi get the material to Nav Bharat Lodge in Secunderabad. Lawrence remained in the lodge room to examine the saris and Rupa took Ravi to Paradise hotel for lunch. When he went to wash his hands, she escaped from there and alerted Lawrence to check out from the lodge with the goods," Task Force inspector Maddipati Srinivasa Rao said.
Based on a complaint lodged by Ravi, the Ramgopalpet police have registered a cheating case on March 31.
The accused along with the recovered material were handed over to the Ramgopalpet police for further investigation.
