HYDERABAD: The Saroornagar police on Wednesday reportedly took two surrendered naxalites into custody. The reason behind the arrest was that the accused had demanded a sum of Rs 20,000 from a senior assistant of Uppal municipality.
According to the police, the arrested were identified as Nagaraj of Khammam and Somla from Warangal district. Another accused Srinivas is at large.

The trio had allegedly demanded Rs 20,000 from the senior assistant Vijay Karan Goud, who is a resident of Saroornagar.
On Tuesday night, the surrendered naxalites came to Goud’s house and forced him to take out the said amount.
They also threatened him with dire consequences if he failed to cough it up and satisfy their requirements. The trio, however, took to their heels when Goud’s son raised an alarm. However, the residents chased and apprehended Nagaraj and Somla and handed over them to police.
