2 Cong candidates elected unopposed to MLC posts

Hyderabad: Congress candidates Mahesh Kumar Goud Bomma and Balmoor Venkat Narsing Rao were on Monday elected unopposed as MLCs under the MLA quota. Their election was declared by returning officer Upender Reddy and they were given certificates.
A gazette notification is likely to be issued on Tuesday. Though the bypoll was scheduled to be held for the two MLC seats on January 29, no other party, including the main opposition BRS, fielded candidates.
Venkat and Mahesh Goud were the only candidates in the fray. The returning officer declared them elected. They would soon take oath of office after fixing muhurats.
The two MLC vacancies under the MLA quota had arisen following the resignation of BRS MLCs Kadiyam Srihari and Padi Kaushik Reddy on December 9 last year after they were elected as MLAs from Station Ghanpur and Huzurabad respectively. TNN
