1k saplings plantedin sixth phase GIC

Hyderabad: The sixth phase of Green India Challenge (GIC) was launched at Kondagattu forest area in Jagtial district on Saturday by planting nearly 1,000 saplings. GIC founder and MP Joginapally Santosh Kumar, ministers A Indrakaran Reddy, Koppula Eshwar and Gangula Kamalakar, MLAs and officials took part. This year, the GIC theme is ‘fight against plastic pollution and control its use.’The MP had previously announced that the forest area adjoining the Kondagattu Anjaneya Swamy temple would be adopted and developed under the GIC. With 1 crore from MPLADS funds, Santosh got a protective fence, walking track, watch tower constructed and forest area surrounding the temple premises restored. Indrakaran Reddy said GIC has become a role model in the country. MLAs and public representatives said GIC continues to gather momentum as it inspires communities to actively contribute to environmental preservation.
