17 apprehended for murder of gangster

Tirupati urban police on Wednesday arrested a gang of 17 in connection with a murder in the temple city on December 21. Rowdysheeter Pasupuleti Murali, who was an accused in a murder case, was hacked to death by rivals near Korlagunta in Tirupati.

Tirupati East Division police registered a case and arrested 10 accused from Tirupati. Seven other accused were picked up from Renigunta on Wednesday.

Some of the murder accused have been identified as G Gajendra, Narasimhulu, Mallikarjuna, Arun Kumar, K Hari Krishna, K Arun, K Giri Babu, G Sathya Srinivasulu, Raghavan Dinesh, M Manikantan, S Mahesh, N Mahabub Basha and Naga Vijaya Kumar.

Police said a friend of the 17-member gang, S Bhargav, was allegedly killed by Pasupuleti Murali and his associates earlier. The gang kept a watch on Murali and attacked him using iron rods and knives on December 21. The accused left the spot only after confirming Murali was dead.
