Burglars stole Rs 15 lakh worth valuables from the house of a retired Bharat Heavy Plate & Vessels (BHPV) employee on Sunday night.

HYDERABAD: Burglars stole Rs 15 lakh worth valuables from the house of a retired Bharat Heavy Plate & Vessels (BHPV) employee on Sunday night. The incident took place at Venkateswarulu's house at plot no. 317 in Defence Colony when he went with his family to Vizag on August 29 to attend a family event.
On Monday morning, neighbours alerted Venkateswarulu about the robbery.

When he returned, he reported the theft to the Neredmet police.
"Burglars broke open the main door lock and opened the iron safe using the keys available in the draw next to it. According to the complainant, 50 tolas of gold ornaments, one-and-a-half kgs of silver and Rs 10,000 cash were stolen," Neredmet inspector K Venkat Reddy said.
A forensic team collected the fingerprints and a case of burglary was booked by the police under section 457/380 of the IPC.
