HYDERABAD: Twelve female singers were arrested for performing semi-nude and provocative dances in two city bar and restaurants on Saturday night.
In the first incident, the Abids police and the central task force team found out that the management of Caesar’s Palace Restaurant and Bar was organising obscene dances.
Seven women, who were singing and doing provocative dances, were arrested from the premises.
The police found that the singers were moving around the customers’ tables seeking tips by making lewd gestures.
They were trying to collect tips from tipsy customers by moving very close to them.
The arrested dancers include Hameeda Bhanu Sheikh, Shivani Deshpande, Sonia Chowdary, Shabana Begum, Meena Sheikh and Kumli Sheikh. All the accused were arrested and released on bail, while the manager of the bar Man Mohan Attal was sent to safe custody. The owner of the bar Prakash is absconding.
In another incident, five female singers who are part of an orchestra team were found to be performing provocative dances on the dais in Forest Bar and Restaurant.
A special team that visited the place found these women performing vulgar and provocative dances. They were trying to lure customers with obscene gestures.
The singers Moushmi Rai Chowdary, Kavita Dass, Anuradha, Pinky Banerji and Payal Sharma were also taken into custody. All the women were released on bail.
The Narayanguda police said that the manager Trigunesan alias Kutty, 35 , and group incharge at the bar Alampuraiah, 35, admitted to orgainising obscene dances as per the instructions of the bar owner Srinivas Reddy. The police said that when the manager was asked to produce the bar licence, he feigned ignorance and expressed his helplessness.
