12 Congressmen convicted for life

GUNTUR: Twelve Congressmen were convicted for life in connection with the murder of a TDP activist in Macherla constituency about two years ago.
Delivering the sensational judgment on Monday, ninth additional district judge G V Bharatha Lakshmi said the charges against the accused were proved beyond doubt and hence they were being awarded the maximum punishment of life imprisonment.The Congress workers were convicted of murder of Julakanti China Venkata Reddy of TDP of Veldurthy village in Macherla on October 11, 2007.
Venkata Reddy was related to the convicted Congress workers. Jalakanti Madhava Reddy, J Lakshmi Reddy, J Linga Reddy, Kasireddi Venkata Reddy, K Nagireddy, Pulusu Hanimi Reddy, P Pedakoti Reddy, P Bapireddy, P Siva Reddy, P Anji Reddy and P Nagireddy were among the convicted who were sent to 14 years of imprisonment.
Shocked Congress leaders, including former MLA Kurri Punna Reddy, rushed to the court premises to console the activists.
