HYDERABAD:
Crime Investigation Department (CID) investigators have arrested 11 more persons, including eight doctors who had appeared for the PG Medical Entrance Test (PGMET) and three brokers in the PGMET question paper leakage scam.
The CID officers have arrested doctors G Krishna Karthik (Rank No 31), Kaja Neela Harika (Rank No 54), Radha Reddy Shyamala (Rank No 60), Keerthi Chowdary (Rank No 79), Lanka Prathyusha (Rank No 80), Phanishri A (Rank No 94), Bharath Chandra (Rank No 110) and Shaik Hussain Basha (Rank No 263), brokers G Rambabu of Guntur, Mande Shakeel Ahmed and Shiva Prasad Ankegowda from Bangalore.
Shakeel Ahmed runs Carrier Coordinators Private Limited, an educational consultancy in Bangalore, and provides management quota seats in medical colleges to rich candidates. Through another accused, Anuj Kumar Singh from Mumbai, Shakeel had obtained the entrance exam question paper and with the help of his associate Rambabu, he chose six candidates who were willing to pay money and coached them in Bangalore.
Shiva Prasad Ankegowda is the close associate of prime accused Ameer Ahmed and Kaushik. Shiva Prasad obtained the question paper from Ameer and coached four candidates in Goa.
After collecting substantial evidence against the accused, CID sleuths have nabbed them from various places on Monday. The accused were produced before court and remanded in judicial custody on Tuesday. With the latest arrests, CID has so far arrested 41 persons, including 23 doctors who appeared for the entrance test and 18 brokers, in the PGMET scam.
