BJP has been demanding deployment of central forces in Munugode, alleging that state police were colluding with the ruling TRS.

The ECI has sought a report from the chief electoral officer on transfer of money, instead of giving sheep, to beneficiaries in Munugode following a complaint by Forum for Good Governance.

We are waiting for the report from collector and district election officer T Vinay Krishna Reddy on what instructions the government has issued in connection with the implementation of the sheep scheme. Once we get a reply, we will furnish a report to the Election Commission of India,” Telangana Chief Electoral Officer Vikas Raj said. On the TRS petition, Vikas Raj said the Election Commission of India will take a decision on the ruling party’s demand for deletion of lookalike symbols.

“Other complaints with regard to the bypoll have also been brought to the notice of ECI,” he said. Vinay Krishna warned of strict action against those trying to lure voters with cash, liquor, gifts and other freebies. He said criminal cases will be registered against them.

The collector appealed to voters not to accept money or liquor or any other valuables. Meanwhile, six more candidates filed nomination papers on Tuesday. Some residents from Hyderabad were among those who filed nominations as Independent candidates. Eleven candidates filed papers on Monday. A toll-free number — 0868-2234238 — has been set up to receive election-related complaints.
