Dharwad: Deputy commissioner Gurudatt Hegde, who is also the district election returning officer, called upon the staff on election duty to discharge their duties with dedication to ensure fair and transparent elections. Addressing the returning officers, assistant returning officers, sector officers and others who have been appointed for election duty here on Tuesday, he said election is a major and most important process in democracy and officials on poll duty should work as a team following rules in letter and spirit. Superintendent of Police Lokesh Jagalasar said officials from different departments will be deployed on election duty and they have work in coordination with each other to make the elections free and fair. Joint commissioner of commercial taxes B Nagaraj Rao and state trainer NV Shirgaonkar explained the polling process. tnn
