Vijayapura: Rural police have cracked the case of the murder of former gram panchayat member and realtor Raju Bapu Khare, 42, by arresting six of his relatives.
SP Laxman Nimbargi said in a press release issued here on Friday that the victim, Raju Bapu Khare, a resident involved in real estate business, residing at Golden Doddi, was driving his car from Golden Doddi to Vijayapura around 3pm on April 14. "Near the Sri Dharidevar Pet Industrial Godown in the Aliyabad Industrial Area, a tipper vehicle, driven at high speed, rammed Raju's car. At the same time, other accused on two motorcycles intercepted him, attacked him with stones, and shot him with pistols, causing severe injuries and killing him inside the car. A case was registered based on a complaint by Raju Khare's brother, Sujeer Bapu Khare," he added.
Due to the seriousness of the
murder case, efforts to locate the accused were prioritised under the supervision of additional SP Ramangouda Hatti, and two separate teams involving Ishita Gupta, IPS (Pro), and TS Sulphi, DSP, Vijayapura Rural, inspectors RS Janar, Vinod Dodmani, Lakshmi Deginal, along with staff, undertook the search operation. "Based on the details in the complaint and evidence found at the crime scene, teams arrested Abushya Sopan Kodlekar, 36, Abashya Balu Mane, 35, Vageesh Shankar Pol, 31, Jaalindar alias Popat Mallari Hakke, 29, Khanduba alias Ajith Gundiba Tambe alias Hakke, 29, Muragu alias Maragu Uttam Hakke, 24. During interrogation, it was revealed that due to a property dispute, a conspiracy was hatched to murder the victim," he stated.
Police have recovered two unlicensed country pistols, seven mobile phones, two motorcycles, a tipper vehicle and a car used in the crime. Accused were presented for judicial custody on April 20, and further investigation is on.
