USDA experts collecting data on cotton

China has grown excess cotton compared to Australia and India, said the experts' team from the United States Consulate Department of Agriculture (USDA), which visited Karnataka Chamber Of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) here on Sunday.

Hubli: China has grown excess cotton compared to Australia and India, said the experts' team from the United States Consulate Department of Agriculture (USDA), which visited Karnataka Chamber Of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) here on Sunday.
After an interaction with the KCCI members, the USDA agriculture specialists' team led by David Williams and Dhruv Sood said they have visited Nagpur, Gujarat and some parts of the north Karnataka and collected details about the growth of cotton, and yields of different verities of cotton seeds such as Jayadar and Bt cotton.
USDA is maintaining data from cotton growers and traders on global cotton production. According to the USDA, in America cotton is grown 11-12 quintals per acre whereas in India it is 7-8 quintals per acre, KCCI said in a press release.
