According to police, the threat email was received by the principal district and sessions court judge at 5.40am, warning of an explosive device within the court premises, and asking him to alert others. The mail contained three pages.As soon as the message came to light, police officials swung into action and tightened security across the complex.City police commissioner Sharanappa SD said that bomb disposal squads, dog squads, and senior police officers rushed to the spot and conducted a thorough inspection of the entire complex, including court halls, administrative offices, and surrounding areas. Lawyers, court staff, litigants, and members of the public present at the premises were asked to move to safer locations as a precautionary measure.After an extensive search operation of around three hours, no suspicious objects were found, after which the officials declared threat call a hoax. "However, police continued to remain vigilant and initiated steps to trace the origin of the email," the commissioner said.
University police registered a case and launched an investigation to identify the sender of the email. Speaking to reporters, advocate Chidanand Khot said the inspection was carried out as per the directions of the principal district judge and that no suspicious object was found. Another advocate, SS Patil, condemned the incident and called for enhanced security measures, including the installation of CCTV cameras on the court premises to prevent such occurrences in the future.
