Belagavi: Belagavi Marihal Police cracked inter-state and inter-district theft cases and arrested 5 accused, seizing 21 vehicles worth Rs 95 lakh.
City police commissioner Bhushan Borse said in a release that in Nov 2025, a case was registered regarding the theft of a vehicle parked in front of a house near Nilji Cross under the jurisdiction of Marihal police station. The police, who followed the trail of the case, received concrete information about thieves who came from outside districts and made a profession of stealing vehicles. The operation was carried out based on the information.

The accused were identified as Yasuf Khan, 69, from Dharwad, Zakir Hussain Pardevale, 47, Azadi Ibrahim Mutavalli, 36, from Vijayapura, Shafiq Ahmed, 52, from Vellore in Tamil Nadu, and Basir Ahmed Makandar, 38, from Dandeli. A total of 21 vehicles, including 8 goods mini trucks, 7 bikes, and 5 scooters, were seized from those arrested.
Cases were registered in various police stations in this regard, and legal action was taken against the accused.
