Hence, a fresh tender is again invited for the purpose. This Smart City Project envisages development of a state-of-the-art multilevel car parking complex (MLCP) to meet the traffic requirements in Hubballi.

As part of the initiative, Hubballi

Dharwad

Smart City Limited (HDSCL), the special vehicle purpose of the smart city project, intends to develop an integrated smart parking tower. The tower will be developed on 4,050 sq m of land at an estimated cost of Rs 50 crore.

The e-tender for this work was invited several times and with no bidder coming forward, HDSCL has invited a fresh tender again.

HDSCL special officer S H Naregal told TOI that earlier, two companies had approached them after the deadline to take part in the bidding.

“Including them, 32 companies, who have built smart parking facilities in several cities across the world, have been approached to take part in the fresh bid. This time, many companies will take part,” he added.

The MLCP and the complex will be constructed as there is high demand for parking space in the area. Many commercial and business areas are located around it. Rani Chennamma Circle is also one of the busiest junctions in the city. Since Hubballi-Dharwad Municipal Corporation (HDMC) and Hubballi Court are located within 200 metres of the proposed smart parking facility, people will benefit more, HDSCL sources said.

Sources said the smart parking tower will accommodate 290 cars. Each slot of cars will be designed in a way that it accommodates three motorbikes. The tower will be a green building with at least IGBC silver certification, public convenience facilities at ground floor, provision for paratransit bays within site and provision for table top intersections on both sides of the site to facilitate road crossing after people park their cars in the MLCP.
