DAVANAGERE: There is an urgent need to create a corpus fund for the welfare of several film co-artists including dancers, fighters, cameramen, editors and technicians, according to film star Sudeep. Speaking at a press conference in Davanagere to announce a 3-day cricket tournament, Dr Rajkumar Cup, scheduled to begin in Davanagere sports stadium on Friday, Sudeep said it is ironical that while top actors earn a fortune, co-artists reel under financial crisis and often face healthcare problems.
"There are over 415 co-artists working in Kannada film industry and we have to chalk out some welfare measures for them," he said.
Young actors including Diganth, Tarun Sudhir, Kitty, Ajith, Dhruv and Yogi, besides Thriller Manju, Pradeep, Srujan Lokesh, Nag Kiran, Dilip Pai and women artists including Pooja Gandhi, Neetu and several directors and editors are going to take part in the cricket tournament, he said.
Jagalur MLA S V Ramachandra, corporator Dinesh K Shetty, Raju Gowda, and dancers association chief Rajesh were present.
