KALABURAGI: After the transfer of six notorious prisoners from the Kalaburagi Central Prison to other jails in the state, videos of four prisoners consuming alcohol in their cell are doing the rounds on social media.
The videos show inmates consuming alcohol and smoking cigarettes. Mobile phones and chargers are also visible. It is worth noting that during a recent raid, authorities confiscated tobacco and other illegal items discarded near the women's barracks.
The prisoners in the video are the ones who reportedly threatened to blow up the car of chief jail superintendent Anita R. They were transferred to other jails on Thursday for forming an illegal group and trying to instigate a riot.
"These videos are two-month old," said a prison official who did not want to be named. He also suspected that the videos were deliberately filmed by pouring tea decoction into a glass to make it look like alcohol.
The jail superintendent has not responded to the videos.
