HUBLI: Karnatak University (KUD) vice-chancellor H B Walikar has said that the real challenge of teachers lies in training students to be marketable.
He was speaking at the inaugural function of UGC-sponsored two-day national seminar on `Higher education in the new millennium __ Issues and challenges' organized by KLES PC Jabin Science College on Friday.

The V-C said 75% of teachers' work should focus on learning or preparing for the classes, while the rest should be dedicated to teaching. "Delivering knowledge gives more pleasure than acquiring it," he felt.
He also urged the teaching fraternity to be dignified in their profession. "Encouragement and rewards for teachers will improve the system of education," he added.
PC Jabin Science College chairman J B Jabin said measures should be taken to help students advance in their studies. College principal V B Hiremath urged the teaching fraternity to motivate their students to bring out the best in them.
