SDRF CPI found dead at home in Belagavi

Belagavi: State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) CPI Shrishail Chougale, 37, was found dead at his residence in the Chennamma Nagar area of Belagavi in the early hours of Thursday.

According to police sources, Chougale had locked himself inside a room at his house, following which his wife alerted SDRF personnel. The staff rushed to the spot, broke open the door and shifted him to a hospital, where doctors declared him dead.

Police said the exact reason behind the alleged suicide is yet to be ascertained. A case has been registered at the Udyambag
police station, and further investigation is underway.

Speaking to mediapersons, Mahesh Chougale, father of the deceased officer, said Shrishail was due for promotion to the rank of DySP next month and was well regarded within the department.

“He had a good reputation in the department and was also leading a happy family life. His son studies in Class 3, and his daughter is in UKG. There did not appear to be any tension or problem. Despite that, this incident has happened. Only God knows what led to it,” he said.
